Author

Detroit Resurrected: To Bankruptcy and Back: W.W. Norton & Co. published Nathan’s debut book in 2016. Detroit Resurrected tells the dynamic inside story of the largest Chapter 9 bankruptcy in U.S. history. It is available in hardcover, paperback, e-book and audiobook. The New York Times hailed Detroit Resurrected as a “valuable work of urban policy,” while Publisher’s Weekly called it a “stirring saga.”

After the Fact: The Erosion of Truth and the Inevitable Rise of Donald Trump: Prometheus Books published Nathan’s second book in 2018. It is available in hardcover, e-book and audiobook. After the Fact examines how society’s increasingly tenuous commitment to the facts set the stage for Donald Trump’s ascent to the White House. Syndicated columnist Leonard Pitts called After the Fact “troubling and essential,” while the San Francisco Book Review called it “a fantastic analysis of the world we live in today.”

Bridge Builders: Bringing People Together in a Polarized Age Polity Press published Nathan’s third book in hardcover and e-book in 2021. In Bridge Builders, Nathan paints a forensic portrait of Americans who are spanning gaping divides between people of difference. Bridge Builders — which Real Change News called “refreshing and sorely needed” — was the best-selling new release on Amazon in the Civil Rights and Anthropology sections.
